Grievance Redressal Cell & its Mechanism
The College has a dedicated cell for addressing grievances of the students. Complaints that the students might have and raise are directed promptly to this committee where the merit of the complaints is judged and commensurate steps are taken. Anyone with genuine grievance may approach the Grievance Redressal Cell in person or in case where the complainant is unwilling to do so, she can put her grievance in writing in the Complaint Box placed prominently within the college building. They can even avail the option of sending an e-mail directly to the Nodal Officer/Convener of the Cell or the Principal.
Objective:
The Grievance Redressal Cell has been constituted to ensure a sense of responsibility and accountability among all the stakeholders thereby maintaining a harmonious educational environment where all the partakers can grow organically.
- Advising all staff members to adopt a non-vindictive attitude towards the students.
- Advising all students and staff members to adopt responsible attitude towards each other and stay away from any violation of each others’ rights.
- Advising all partakers to maintain utmost restraint in case of any strife or dispute.
- Advising the staff members to create an enabling atmosphere where students can approach them freely to talk about any issues that they might seek solution for.
- To ensure that ragging in any form or character is strictly prohibited within the campus.
- To ensure that all forms of sexual harassment are discouraged within the campus premises.
Scope:
The committee deals with grievances related to Academic, Financial and miscellaneous matters.
- Academic: Timely issue of duplicate Mark-sheets, Transfer Certificates, Good conduct certificates and other examination related issues.
- Financial: Grievances related to scholarships, fee grants, exam fee waivers etc.
- Miscellaneous: Matters pertaining to infrastructural facilities, cleanliness, canteen,digital facilities, safety issues etc.
The committee members meet regularly to take stock of the complaints received and takes adequate actions on their basis. Pending cases if any are also attended to and reports are prepared accordingly to be placed in front of suitable authority in the college.
Procedure:
- The names and contact numbers of the members are widely publicized in the campus using flex board installed in prominent places.
- Flex indicating zero tolerance towards ragging is posted at all prominent places.
- Dedicated forms, that the students can use to mention the grievances has been created and the students are regularly encouraged to use them in case of need. The form is also available in the website.
- Complaint boxes have been installed at multiple spots within the campus so that students can inform about their problems anonymously.
- The Grievance Redressal Committee takes up only those matters which have necessary supporting documents to back the claims made.
- The Grievance Redressal Committee also takes up matters forwarded by the Department heads in case the latter feels that the grievance raised is beyond their purview.
- Grievances related to financial issues are taken up only when definite documents are attached to prove the allegation.
- Decisions of the Executive Council, Academic Council, Board of Studies and other academic and administrative committees constituted by the University are beyond the purview of the Grievance Redressal Cell.
- Decisions made by the University with regard to disciplinary matters and misconducts are also excluded from the purview of the Grievance Redressal Cell.
- Decisions of the University regarding publication of results are excluded from the Committee’s purview.
- In case the complainant is left dissatisfied with the College Grievance Redressal Cell’s decisions, she is to be urged/ encouraged to send her complaint to the Ombudsman, appointed by the affiliating University. On receiving a date from the Ombudsman for hearing, the same information is to be communicated to the aggrieved party.
